I have no words or value,

no family, no friends;

I'm a loner by default.

Since my birth,

I have roamed this lonely world,

searching for someone like me —

someone who could actually see me.

Although I’ve had no luck thus far,

this tragedy does not keep me

from sharing my many gifts with society,

although no one can see me.

Despite my loneliness,

I still practice being mindful

of myself and others;

I have found great solace

in just being.

I have also found great power and peace

in allowing the others to be themselves,

as they continue to pay me no mind,

no matter what I do.

Despite my irrelevance,

I have no desires,

no plans of escape,

no expectations…

I… just am.

One night, before I went to bed,

I saw myself in the mirror

for the first time!

I noticed a shiny golden orb

shining through my shirt.

Upon further inspection,

I discovered this golden orb had a beat…

It was my heart!

Before dozing off that night,

I thanked my creator

for making me invisible…

I had found my purpose.
